The entity of Baker and Howland Islands has been on the DXCC list since 1945, but was initially known as Baker, Howland & American Phoenix Islands. QSOs count for Baker and Howland Islands from 1945-11-15. 

The DXCC enitity of  Baker and Howland Islands consists  of Baker Island and Howland Island, and, until 1983-06-21, also included Canton Island and Enderbury Island. Canton and Enderbury Islands became part of Central Kiribati on 1979-07-12, although stations with US callsigns were QRV from there until 1983-06-21. Baker, Howland, Canton and Enderbury Islands are geographically part of the Phoenix Islands.


The IOTA reference for Baker and Howland Islands is OC-089. The IOTA reference of Canton and Enderbury Islands is OC-043.

The KC6 prefix was used for Baker and Howland Islands up to 1947. 

From mid-1947, the KB6 (WB6 for novice stations) prefix was used for Baker and Howland Islands, and continued to be used for Baker and Howland Islands until the US callsign revision of 1978-03-24, from which date the prefix became KH1, with AH1, NH1 & WH1 also being used.

Baker and Howland Islands  is a whitelisted DXCC entity, currently for QSOs on or after 1978-03-24. The following table lists stations known to have been QRV from Baker and Howland Islands, and which are thought to be good for DXCC credit.

The callsigns below are the only ones in the whitelist period that Club Log will map to Baker and Howland Islands, and only for QSO dates within the exception date range. These callsigns have been taken from QSL cards and other sources.

Callsigns in the whitelist period that are not listed below, or QSOs outside the exception date range, will be not be mapped to Baker and Howland Islands, but will be mapped as INVALID.
