The following fascinating letter, dated 7 September, 1948, is addressed to all amateurs in the British Zone of Germany, cautioning amateurs not to impart unnecessary information when in QSO with, or sending QSLs to, Russian amateurs. The letter is signed by "R.G. Shears". This was probably Major General Roland (Rowley) George Shears, G8KW, founder of well known KW Electronics in Dartford, Kent on 6th January, 1956.
This letter was retrieved from the home of G3CCH (SK) by G4NEG. The image is provided by G3RAU. The existence of this letter in G3CCH's home may imply that he was based in Germany in 1948, as well as having been based in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1946-47.
