The addition of the DXCC entity of Somalia to the DXCC Countries List was announced in the September 1960 issue of QST, p91. The anouncement in "DXCC Notes" is as follows:
"Announcement is hereby made of five new and separate additions to the A.R.R.L's Countries List. DXCC credit claims may be made for these five starting November 1, 1960. Claims for any of these five received before November 1 1960 will be returned without credit. The additions are as follows:
Marcus Island <snip>
Mali Federation <snio>
Mauritania <snip>
Ruanda-Urundi <snip>
Somalia Republic: The Somalia Republic came into being as of July 1, 1960. It comprises the two former listings of British Somaliland and Italian Somaliland. Confirmations for contacts with Somalia Republic stations must be dated July 1, 1960 or later.
Prefix: 6O, T5
Ranking in "Most Wanted" league.
Note: QSOs with French Somaliland count as Djibouti.
Whitelisting
Somalia is a whitelisted DXCC entity. The following table lists stations known to have been QRV from Somalia and which are thought to be good for DXCC credit.
The callsigns below are the only ones that Club Log will map to Somalia. These callsigns have been taken from QSL cards and other sources.
Callsigns that are not listed below, or QSOs outside the exception date range, will be not be mapped to Somalia but will be mapped as INVALID.
