Why are callsign comments worded in the past tense?

Modified on Sat, 22 Mar, 2014 at 2:33 AM

Each week, a report is run which summarises all the comments that have been added to callsigns that have been research by Alan (or added as expedition plans surface). There are usually a dozen or more. As they number in their thousands now, there is no practical way to go through editing each callsign a second time.

Callsign comments are therefore always worded in the past tense, even when the expedition or activity in question is in the future at the time of writing. This is so that the records will read correctly later.
