To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in 1977, UK radio amateurs could use a special temporary callsign during the period 00:00 1977-06-04 to 23:59 1977-06-12. Dates are British Summer Time (GMT+1).

The normal prefix of an individual callsign was replaced by GE. The digit and suffix of the callsign was the same as the licensee's normal callsign. Thus it is clear that the DXCC entity of a station cannot be determined from the callsign. Club Log maps all GE callsigns to England, unless a callsign exception exists for the station. The GE prefix was not permitted to be used by reciprocal licence holders (ie there were no GE5 callsigns).

DXNS #764 reports that GE3WIR, operated by the Burnham Beeches Radio Club, was QRV from Windsor Castle, by kind permission of HRH Prince Philip.

List of SES callsign exceptions (Club Log has callsign exceptions for all these callsigns)

The following is the known list of exceptions for Silver Jubilee SES callsigns.

Please help! There were almost certainly more exceptions than those in the following table. Please advise Alan 5B4AHJ, via the email address on QRZ.COM, of additional exceptions, ie GE callsigns operating from outside England.
