Live Bands

Live Bands is a personalised live DX cockpit. It combines real completed QSOs with DX Cluster and Skimmer activity into one feed, then ranks and filters it against your award progress, what you still need, global Most Wanted rarity, and optional geographic filters. The feed updates while you are viewing the screen; ranking reflects your log, your filter choices, and how rare each entity is on Club Log.

At the top, a segmented control switches between Feed and Activity. Feed shows ranked cards per DX callsign with slot detail, a tuned frequency when one is known, and indicators for what you still need. Activity groups live events differently and responds to the geographic filters described below.

A row of filter chips sits under the mode picker. The goal menu chooses Entire log or New in [year]; that year setting affects how “new DXCC” style filters behave. The ATNOs / New DXCC chip, when on, limits the feed to All Time New Ones (entities you have never worked) or, with the year goal, entities new in the current calendar year. The Slots chip, when on, shows only band slots you still need; tap the chevron on Slots to set the chase threshold to Chase when not worked, Chase when not confirmed (the default), or Chase when not verified. All Time New One entities always count as needed slots regardless of that threshold. The Band chip opens a menu of per-band toggles (only bands enabled in Settings). The Mode chip toggles CW, Phone, and Data independently. The Filters chip opens Right Now Filters for deeper geographic control and shows a count when any of those filters are active.

In the top right, a coloured dot shows whether the live feed is connected (green) or reconnecting (grey). The sort menu offers Prioritized (weighted by need and rarity), Recency, and Band. The more menu opens Most Wanted threshold, a slider from 1 to 350 that hides or deprioritises entities rarer than the chosen rank (350 means no practical cutoff), and Dismissed callsigns, the same hide list used in DX Cluster.

Right Now Filters, opened from the Filters chip, narrows QSOs by where stations are and who they worked. When your CQ zone is known, Involves my CQ zone limits to QSOs where either side is in your zone. Source filters describe who is operating (continent, DXCC entity via a searchable name list, or CQ zone). Destination filters describe who was worked, with the same three dimensions. Picking a continent narrows the entity picker to that continent; changing continent after choosing an entity clears the entity if it no longer fits. Reset All Filters clears geographic choices; Cancel discards changes; Apply saves and closes.

Tap a feed row for need-check detail. Swipe right for Alert (expedition watch) or left for Dismiss. Pull down to refresh when online. Chip and geographic filter choices are remembered next time you open the app. Offline you see Device offline or a reconnecting state. The active callsign and your band list in Settings both matter here. DX Cluster shows raw spots without personal ranking; Check gives a full band-by-band picture for one entity; Propagation offers similar geographic ideas for path planning.
